Thanks Lawdog. The reality is that everyone can learn from these communities, and so many people have pieces of the puzzle. Thank you for sharing. I've been promoting low carb of various forms (whatever works for you) for three decades. I wrote an article about carnivore back before anyone was talking about carnivore - I think I called it the "meat diet". I had become fascinated by what I was seeing on internet message boards.
A carnivore/keto diet to reduce inflammation and stretching exercises have helped me a lot. But you have clearly gone very deep down the rabbit hole of lower back pain and come up with an incredible amount of knowledge and wisdom on the subject matter. Thank you for going the extra mile.
Thanks Dr Russell 😁 fascinating what you don't know until you know... So many docs and surgeons just keep on with same old (standard of care I guess) and keep getting paid for it without achieving the desired results for the patient... hence the huge distrust of the medical profession that has massively multiplied since the 'Covid' scan rearing its ugly head!
Thank you for bringing some of this buried information to light. Good bless you Sir 🙏
From the years I was a teenager, I suffered from a lot of back pain. (I was in an accident - on my bike, typically Dutch - that in hindsight caused damage to my neck and lower back.) I found a physical therapist who was a "manuel therapist". He told me that as he saw it, a lot of surgeries for herniated disks should not happen, because most bulges would contract somewhat after awhile. (I hope I am quoting him right.)
He helped mitigate the pain by spine-manipulation, acupuncture, exercises, suggesting supplements and dietary changes. He believed whatever happened in the bowels and in the rest of the abdomen, highly inflenced the spine. He was called "a quack".
This was before advanced scanning became possible. He helped a lot of people. In those days specialized physical therapists were more attuned to pain-management, healthy living, etc. than doctors - at least in my home country.
I hope the doctors involved in lower-back pain research will check for correlation (maybe even causation) with bowels that quickly constipate because of bad gut health, and also endometriosis (an underdiagnosed painful condition suffered by a lot of females).
Ha! I just started reading this article. Also the article about the fight against homeopathy in the US. My grand-parents had the Bilz Bücher - sold house-to-house in the 1920s. For some reason shortly afterwards further sales were discouraged by local government. Maybe because it described homo-sexuals ("urners") as not being deviants?
People who had bought on payment-plans did not have to continue paying. Much to the chagrin of my grand-parents, who had paid cash on delivery! As a child I perused the books until forbidden because some of the illustrations gave me nightmares. But that is how I learned about Dr. Hahnemann, Pastor Kneipp, Mr. Bilz, etc. and the treatments they favored.
I’m dealing with pain from various accidents sustained over the years. I’ve two herniated discs at the base of my neck, two bulging discs in my lower back that are pinching a nerve, arthritis and degeneration in my lower back, and due to my two giant breed dogs sideswiping me at a full run I’ve now got severe sciatica going down the length of my left leg into my lower calf.
I’ve been getting steroid injections in my lower back and now a nerve ablation is scheduled late next month. I don’t feel great most days. Yet, I live in a heavily forested area and force myself to go on a 45-60 minute hike with my dogs every day for all of our health. Recently, I discovered aspirin works amazingly well for controlling pain and I don’t have all the side effects from pain meds.
Long story long, it appears, thanks to your information, what I need most is to get the inflammation under control instead of being a cash cow for my orthopedic doctor. Not seeking medical advice per se but do you have any links to other information that I should be pursuing?
Thank you Eva!
Wow wow wow I am so glad I found you a wee while ago (can’t remember whom cross referenced you sorry).
Both fascinating and incredibly well explained and illustrated.
And filled with hope.
Thank you

Thanks 😊
Be sure to pursue some of the links in the post - especially, I believe, the last one (or maybe second to last). God bless!
It just happens to be the ocean I swim in or I wouldn't know about it either, Graphite. Thanks for following!
